Our Christmas Day!

Starting on Christmas Eve, I spent time at my dad's watching both classic and newer Christmas movies. Although not my top choice, 'The Holiday' is a favourite among my stepfamily, and my dad knows some scenes by heart...

25th December 2024

On Christmas Day, we opened our gifts and appreciated what we received. Later, I went to the 'Scout hut' with my mum and stepdad Dave. We spent the morning feeding the lonely, an event organized by the church in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, known as 'The Grace Communion Market Harborough'. They host various events throughout the year. Sinead Henderson led the event, and it took me a few hours to feel comfortable in the setting. Nonetheless, it was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying themselves on a day that might have otherwise been very lonely for them.

We participated in a Christmas Quiz event that brought together friends and family in a joyous celebration of the holiday spirit. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement as teams gathered around tables, ready to test their knowledge of Christmas trivia. Although we didn't emerge victorious at the end of the quiz, the experience was incredibly enjoyable and memorable, filled with moments of camaraderie and festive cheer.

As part of the quiz, we also engaged in singing Christmas Carols, which added an extra layer of fun to the evening. The room resonated with the sound of familiar melodies as we attempted to recall the lyrics to classic songs like "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night," and "Deck the Halls." Some of us were more successful than others in remembering all the verses, leading to playful banter and laughter when someone would stumble over a line or forget the words entirely.

The joy of singing together created a sense of unity and warmth, as we all joined in harmony, celebrating the season through music. The quiz not only tested our knowledge of Christmas traditions and history but also allowed us to express our holiday spirit through song. The combination of trivia and caroling made for a delightful evening that truly captured the essence of Christmas. Even though we didn't win any prizes, the memories we created and the laughter we shared made the event a resounding success in our hearts.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time and a very happy New Year!

Olivia
