Born anxious

Born Anxious is a social enterprise creating sensory-friendly, label-free clothing from organic fabrics, supporting disability charities and promoting kindness through lived experience.

The Challenge

Born Anxious was created from deeply personal experiences — navigating a world that often misunderstands the needs and perspectives of those with sensory differences and anxiety. Founder Kellie Croft’s journey, inspired by her son Oscar, highlighted how clothing and everyday interactions could either comfort or cause stress. The challenge was to design apparel that not only met sensory needs — with organic fabrics and no irritating labels — but also sparked kindness, empathy, and awareness in society.

Beyond the clothing itself, Born Anxious faced the task of sustaining a small, independent social enterprise in a competitive market while remaining true to its mission. With no full-time staff and ongoing offers to sell the business, the question was how to keep growing without compromising authenticity or the personal values that drive the brand.

Our Approach

Born Anxious has remained firmly rooted in its mission as a genuine social enterprise — not for sale and entirely connected to Oscar’s journey. Kellie works closely with a talented designer, PR support, tech experts, and a dedicated community of loyal supporters to keep the brand thriving.

Through collaborations with charities like Anna Kennedy Online and Work For Good UK, Born Anxious donates, raises awareness, and partners with organisations that create positive change for people with disabilities. Every piece of clothing is more than apparel — it’s a statement of inclusion and understanding. As the brand continues to grow and network, Kellie ensures that each step forward reflects the same authenticity, compassion, and commitment that sparked the journey in the first place.
